IT Media Academy is one of the most prestigious Training Centres in Poland. Warsaw is the job market of high capacity, absorbent for the best specialists from country and abroad. One can find here micro or small enterprises, which limit their activities to the internal market, or large creative industry companies with an international range.

To give an example Warsaw’s CD Project Red Studio created a PC game “The Witcher”, based on the prose of Andrzej Sapkowski. This international hit was on the lists of the top 10 best games all over the world for months, including USA and Russia.

Warsaw architecture is – also – developing, on of the best examples is the Golden Lion  – award for “Hotel Polonia. The Afterlife of Buildings” exhibition, at the Biennale of Architecture 2008 inVenice.

On the other hand, in Warsaw springs with universities and field of studies on: computer graphics, industrial design, multimedia, architecture of urban space. Students can apply for Faculty of Media and Scenography at the Warsaw Art’s Academy, or the International School of Costume and Fashion Design, Polish-Japanese School of Information Technology among many others.

More and more graduates of these schools become entrepreneurs in creative sector, gradually they use help of academic incubators. Step by step these activities influence not only the public space of Warsaw but also the quality of  life of every inhabitant.

Warsaw’s local government tries to support this trend by providing urban space for creative activities and building structures to simplify conducting creative and sometimes risky activity. Last year, Warsaw was the co-organizer of Wawa Design Festival – the first festival in capital dedicated to the design, also City of Warsaw regularly organizes networking meetings for creative entrepreneurs “Creative Mixer”. The city funded – portal for creative community and takes part in international projects like European Creative Luster Lab, where main focus is support and development of creative industries.

SPPA which was established in 2014 is a young association that has been growing rapidly. Right now it associates producers representing 18 Polish companies that work within the animated production – among them the biggest Platige Image and the oldest Minatures Film Studio. Likewise other foreign producers’ associations SPPA brings together and supports Polish producers as well as shapes and promotes the positive image of Polish animated film in Poland and abroad. By the end of 2015 SPPA will have associated members representing all the major companies operating on the Polish market.

Producers who are members of SPPA partner with the biggest public administration institutions and organisations collaborating with the audiovisual and creative branch both in Poland and abroad. SPPA partcipates actively in the projects enforcing the diffusion of animation and also initiates projects related to education and promotion.

The studio was founded in 2008. It specializes in computer animation and post-production. Apart from animated films and series it makes animations as well as top-grade special effects for films and advertising. The team consists of specialists in animation, computer graphics and producers taking care of the smallest detail and willing to accept most challenging projects. Human Ark is the only studio in Poland run by prominent artists and an experienced manager. Wojtek Wawszczyk and Kamil Polak, both renowned directors, are responsible for coherent artistic vision. Maks Sikora is a managing producer.

Best known productions of the studio include “Świteź”, the short animated film and the winner of 25 awards received at international festivals, like the grand prize in the Short Film Competition in La Palmas and awards at Annecy International Animated Film Festival. Artists from Human Ark (dir. Wojtek Wawszczyk, Jakub Tarkowski, Tomasz Leśniak) were also involved in another famous production, i.e. 2011 full-length animated film “George the Hedgehog”. At present, the animators are working on three film projects: “Casperade” based on the Grzegorz Kasdepke stories, “Tim and the Master” animated series based on comic books by Tomasz Leśniak and Rafał Skarżycki (SPInka Film Studio’s production) and a full-length “Diplodocus” which is an adaptation of cult comic books by Tadeusz Baranowski.

WIT – knowledge, Innovations, Technologies

The Warsaw School of Information Technology (WIT) under the auspices of the Polish Academy of Sciences exists on higher education market for almost 20 years. WIT is licensed to award Bachelor’s and  Master’s degrees in Administration, Graphics, Computer Science and Management.

Candidates who want to be the creators of information systems, computer programmers or system administrators are offered to study in the Faculty of Computer Science. Those candidates who prefer to be specialists in application of information technology in the economy, who want to learn how to implement and use the specialized information systems, are suggested to become students of the Faculty of Management. Candidates who want to acquire knowledge and competences in the area of modern methods of work organization in administration, interpreting and implementing the administrative and civil law as well as knowledge of fundamentals of management in the public sector, are recommended the major in e-Administration.  

The curriculum in graphics at WIT, within the specialty of Multimedia Technologies, is designed to teach the skills connected with students’ graduate studies, like developing the traditional forms of graphics art (drawing, painting, mastering artistic sense to art) as well as understanding and mastering the techniques connected with multimedia. A graduate is fully prepared in terms of art and technics to create two- or three-dimensional projects, 2D and 3D virtual world on the computer screen.

Preparing our educational offer we take into consideration the opinions of employers – the leader representatives of the IT world, for example companies like Asseco Poland, IBM Polska, Oracle Polska,  MIS S.A.. Taking into account the opinions of the market, the analysis of the career paths of our graduates (Golden Line), enabled us to create the curricula aimed at teaching students practical skills.

Our curriculum involves also trainings, carried out by leading specialists-practitioners, experienced managers in various branches, which enables students to obtain certificates proving their practical skills. Trainings are conducted by the specialists from inter alia Asseco Poland, the Polish Chamber of Commerce, indeed, from CD Projekt – the creators of famous throughout the world game series about Wiedzmin, Gerald from Rivia.

WIT provides students with the computer network equipped with modern computer workstations. The School has a total of over 500 workstations. Bandwidth connections to the Internet is over 2 Gb/s. The School also provides students with the software for home use – inter alia the selected Microsoft and Autodesk programs. Students of WIT enjoy state-of-the-art University Management System – UBI which enables inter alia ePUAP credentials-authenticated communication with the School.  

EIZO is a Japanese company known worldwide for the production of excellent monitors. ColorEdge calibrated monitors directed at graphic and photographic markets have a special position on their offer and EIZO is an unquestionable leader in this respect. Now the series encompasses new CX and CS monitors. Another group consists of advanced solutions, e.g. directed at all sorts of diagnostic stations in medicine, air traffic servicing and also continuous industrial use. Except for specialized equipment, EIZO offers a wide range of monitors for office and home use. Among them, FlexScan EcoView deserves special attention as it places a great emphasis on ergonomics and functions minimizing eye fatigue caused by hours spent in front of the monitor. The Polish Filmmakers Association is Poland’s largest organisation of film professionals. The Association promotes Polish film domestically and abroad, supports talented young filmmakers, and produces debut films. The Association is a member of the leading international audiovisual organisations. As an entity involved in collective copyright management, it cooperates with similar institutions around the world.

The association has 1,700 members, including directors, cinematographers, screenwriters, sound operators and sound directors, sound and image editors, animators, costume designers, set designers, producers, production managers, literary critics, stuntmen and other professionals from the film and audiovisual arts sector. The Polish Filmmakers Association was established in 1966. Its Presidents have included Andrzej Wajda, Jerzy Kawalerowicz, and Janusz Majewski. Jacek Bromski has been President of the Association since 1996.

The Polish Filmmakers Association cooperates with major institutions of the Polish film industry, especially the Polish Film Institute. Between 2005-2008 the President of the Polish Filmmakers Association, Jacek Bromski, was also President of the Polish Film Institute Council.The Association cooperates with Polish Television, the National Film School in Łódź, the Radio and Television Department of the University of Silesia in Katowice, the Andrzej Wajda Master School of Film Directing, the National Chamber of Audiovisual Producers, and major cultural organizations in Poland, as well as the Polish Parliament, the Chancellery of the Prime Minister and the Chancellery of the President of Poland.

The Polish Filmmakers Association organises and supports Poland’s leading film events, including: the Polish Film Festival in Gdynia, the Cracow Film Festival, “The Young and Cinema” Debut Films Festival in Koszalin, the Era New Horizons Festival in Wrocław, and the Camerimage Festival of Cinematography.
